Oil prices surged on Thursday due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding US-Iran negotiations. The Brent crude futures price rose by over 2% to $100.35 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate increased by 2.45% to $92.62.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments, remains at the center of these discussions. Iran's government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that Tehran had received Washington's response to a new proposal conveyed through Qatari mediation.
Tehran has made its conditions clear: ending hostilities on all fronts, lifting the US naval blockade, and releasing Iranian assets. These demands highlight the complexities and risks involved in resolving this ongoing dispute.
