US Launches Airstrikes on Iranian Oil Tankers and Strategic Targets

The United States Armed Forces launched airstrikes targeting two Iranian oil tankers and over 100 strategic targets within Iranian territory. The operation marks a qualitative shift in the rules of engagement, with US forces directly targeting Iranian vessels in response to Tehran's threats to international navigation.

The two oil tankers were anchored off the Iranian coast, north of the naval blockade line imposed by Washington, and were struck by advanced drones launching precise missiles that hit their engine rooms. This is the first time US forces have targeted Iranian oil tankers since the current round of escalation in the region began.

The strikes are part of a new policy adopted by President Donald Trump, based on the principle of 'tanker for a tanker,' aimed at establishing a deterrence equation that prevents the Revolutionary Guard from attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The operation also targeted vital air defense sites, advanced radar systems, and bases dedicated to planting naval mines.
