US LNG Exports Poised to Top 120 Million Tonnes in 2026

US LNG exports are poised to reach new heights in 2026, surpassing 120 million tonnes for the first time. Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced this milestone on September 22, crediting companies like Caturus for their expansion efforts.

The growth in US LNG exports is driven by the commissioning of new projects along the Gulf Coast and the expansion of existing plants. Venture Global's Plaquemines LNG in Louisiana has ramped up its operations since starting, with a 13% increase in exports authorized in March, bringing its total to 3.85 bcfd.

Additionally, DOE approved a further expansion at Cheniere Energy's Corpus Christi LNG project in Texas, increasing its export capacity by 0.47 bcfd to 4.45 bcfd. The Elba Island LNG terminal in Georgia also saw a 22% increase in export capacity in April.
