US Military Destroys Three Iranian Oil Tankers After IRGC Attacks
The US military has confirmed that it destroyed three Iranian oil tankers in response to attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on American warships. According to a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the IRGC fired on American vessels, prompting the US to take action. The CENTCOM statement said that the US had struck and disabled two of the oil tankers, M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask.
The third tanker, M/T Kylo, was completely destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after its crew was directed to abandon ship. The statement from CENTCOM described the action as a response to Iran's failed attacks on American warships.
