The U.S. military has taken action against three Iranian oil tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to a statement from CENTCOM, the vessels were struck and destroyed after the IRGC fired on American warships.

The targeted tankers include M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask. The U.S. military also destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman, rendering it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship.

The incident occurred on September 5, 2026, and marked a significant escalation in tensions between the U.S. and Iran. The statement from CENTCOM emphasized that the action was taken in response to the IRGC's firing on American warships.
