US Military Protects Record 18M Barrels of Oil in Strait of Hormuz Operation

The US military successfully escorted 40 commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, protecting 18 million barrels of oil in a record day.

This operation was part of the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, with the US focusing its strategy to prioritize striking targets around the strait and conducting escort operations for commercial vessels.

The US used air, sea, and space assets to hit nearly 60 military targets, including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communications sites. This marks a wartime high in terms of targets struck.

US officials believe the Strait is a depreciating asset for Iran, with recent progress suggesting that it is becoming increasingly difficult for the country to control oil exports through the waterway.
