US Military Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers in Escalating Gulf Tensions

The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to what it calls 'multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks' on its warships. The strikes occurred after a day of relative calm, and come as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.

The U.S. said one tanker was struck off Kharg Island, another near Jask, east of the Strait of Hormuz, and the third in the Gulf of Oman. The unladen tanker was destroyed, according to a statement from the US Central Command.
