US NatGas Futures Stabilize Amid Hot Weather Forecasts
US natural gas futures were stable on Friday as forecasts for hotter weather over the next two weeks offset bearish predictions of record-high output and lower exports. The front-month contract for September delivery fell 1.1 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $2.747 per million British thermal units (mmBtu).
This marked a sixth consecutive week of losses for the contract, which dropped about 15% during that time and was down around 17% so far in July after losing less than 1% in June.
Average gas output in the US Lower 48 states rose to 110.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in July, up from 110.0 bcfd in June and the monthly record high of 110.6 bcfd in December 2025.
