US Natural Gas Inventories Rise as Expected Amid Summer Demand Lull
Natural gas inventories in the US rose as expected in the week ended August 28, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA). This increase is in line with forecasts, but natural gas demand remains weak due to the summer season.
The EIA reported that US natural gas inventories increased by 30 billion cubic feet (Bcf) from the previous week, reaching 3214 Bcf. This marks a +30 Bcf change compared to last year's same period and meets expectations.
The weak demand for natural gas during the summer months could weigh on gas prices. As there is little need for heating during this time, consumers are not consuming as much natural gas, leading to lower demand and potentially affecting prices.
