US Oil Output Surges Amid Middle East Disruptions

A record high oil output is expected in the US this year, driven by significant increases along the Gulf Coast. Crude oil production has risen by about 10% by mid-year, and experts predict a further 3% rise before the end of 2026. This surge in production coincides with disruptions to oil supplies from the Middle East, which have been impacted by shortages in Asia.

King Operating CEO Jay Young notes that despite the industry working at maximum capacity, the majority of US oil output is coming from areas along the Gulf Coast and a few locations in New Mexico. The increase in production has contributed to higher exports of liquid natural gas (LNG) from the US, which are helping to stabilize global energy markets.

However, refineries in the US are being pushed to their limits, with some facing shutdowns for maintenance soon. This could impact US exports at a critical time for Europe and Asia. Additionally, wells in major oil-producing countries such as Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have been shut down, which may affect their future production capacity.
