The United States has sent additional Patriot missile batteries to protect energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and Qatar as tensions with Iran escalate.

According to Axios, two Patriot batteries were deployed last month to safeguard a key oil facility in Saudi Arabia and a natural gas facility in Qatar. The move is aimed at reassuring allies that the US will protect their critical energy infrastructure if President Donald Trump resumes major combat operations against Iran.

Trump has hinted at possible renewed military action against Iran, saying he would consider launching a bombing campaign if Tehran does not sign a deal.
