US Stock Market Plummets Amid Oil Price Surge and Poor Earnings
The US stock market experienced a significant downturn on Thursday, with major indexes plummeting in response to rising oil prices and poor earnings reports from tech giants like Google.
The Dow Jones fell by 507.59 points, or 0.97%, to 51,710.99; the Nasdaq dropped 553.21 points, or 2.15%, to 25,137.69; and the S&P 500 Index lost 90.78 points, down 1.21%, to 7,408.18.
Brent crude oil prices broke above the $100 per barrel mark for the first time since May, with September delivery London Brent crude oil futures closing at $100.69 per barrel, up 7.04%.
