Wall Street's major market averages advanced on Monday as investor attention turned to the upcoming U.S.-China summit.

The blue-chip Dow was last up by 0.6%, while the benchmark S&P 500 surged 1.2% and the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite rose slightly.

However, not all stocks were beneficiaries of this rally. Crude oil prices dropped as a result of increased production in the United States.

The State Street SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was also mentioned in the context of market performance.
