US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers in Escalation of Tensions
The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to missile attacks on Navy warships. The incidents occurred after an aircraft carrier and a destroyer were targeted by multiple missiles, but no US personnel were hurt.
According to the US military's statement, two of the Iranian oil carriers were 'permanently disabled' and the third, which was unladen, was destroyed.
The US Central Command stated that the tankers were part of a shadow network helping to fund Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).
Admiral Brad Cooper warned, 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: if you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost - taking out three of yours.'
