US Targets Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Missile Attack
A US-led military operation has targeted three Iranian oil tankers in response to an IRGC ballistic missile attack on American warships. The CENTCOM commander, Adm. Brad Cooper, stated that the action was taken as retaliation for the earlier incident.
The attacks were carried out on September 5, with one tanker disabled near Kharg Island and another destroyed near Jask. A third vessel, the 'Noxen', was completely destroyed in the Gulf of Oman. No US personnel were injured in the operation.
Iran's military command warned that future strikes against American vessels would be more severe than before, with a possibility of expansion. The IRGC also threatened intensified attacks on US military vessels.
