Copper prices held above US$14,000 per tonne after the US Treasury's surprise move to rein in borrowing costs.

The Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ordered a significant increase in purchases of long-dated government debt to contain soaring yields and aid the US economy.

This action lent support to copper prices, which had been under pressure as a short-term supply crunch began to ease this week.
