US Unleashes Economic Warfare on Iran with 'Operation Outcast'
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has launched 'Operation Economic Outcast', a global campaign to cut off financial support for Iran's rump regime. The operation aims to shut down every source of funding, using US secondary sanctions on private banks, brokers, exchanges, and other entities.
The move is part of the Trump administration's efforts to weaken the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) by disrupting its economy. According to Secretary Bessent, the threat of sanctions can have a significant impact, including halting trade across borders, grounding airplanes, and disrupting cash and goods movement.
Senior officials claim that 16 million barrels of oil were extracted from the Strait of Hormuz on Friday night, while Energy Secretary Chris Wright reported 15 million barrels came out in a single night last week. The operation has already had an impact, with Iran's currency collapsing to 2 million Rials per dollar and inflation soaring above 100%.
