USDA Raises Corn and Soybean Production Estimates
The USDA has released its first production estimates for corn and soybeans, showing increases in both crops' yields and planted acres.
Corn production is estimated to be around 16.012 billion bushels, up from last month's projection of 15.966 billion bu., which was already higher than the trade expected 15.478 billion bu. This represents a significant increase from the previous year's record-setting yield of 186.5 bushels per acre.
Soybean production is estimated to be around 4.519 billion bu., up from last month's projection of 4.475 billion bu., which was already higher than the trade expected 4.478 billion bu. This represents a significant increase from the previous year's yield of 52.7 bushels per acre.
The USDA also increased its estimate for corn carryover, with 1.945 billion bu. for 2025-26 and 1.653 billion bu. for 2026-27. However, it cut its estimate for soybean carryover by 5 million bu. from last month.
