USDA Reports Show Corn Stocks Up, Soybeans Down
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its quarterly grain stocks and small grains summary reports on Wednesday, September 30. The reports provide insight into the country's grain supply and demand.
Corn stocks in all positions on September 1, 2026, totaled 2.1 billion bushels, up 35% from a year ago. This figure came in above analysts' expectations, with on-farm stocks estimated at 787 million bushels and off-farm stocks pegged at 1.31 billion bushels.
Soybean stocks stored in all positions on September 1, 2026, totaled 315 million bushels, down 3% from last year. On-farm stocks are estimated at 90.4 million bushels, while off-farm stocks were pegged at 225 million bushels.
The June-August 2026 indicated usage for corn was 3.2 billion bushels, compared to 3.1 billion bushels from the same period in 2025. For soybeans, the disappearance was 744 million bushels, up from 683 million bushels during the same quarter of 2025.
