Uzbekistan and Russia Eye Joint Agro-Industrial Projects
Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Davron Vakhabov met with Russian agroholding STEP CEO Andrey Neduzhko to discuss joint projects in agriculture. The two parties reviewed a proposal to import 7,000 head of pedigree Holstein cattle into Uzbekistan each year, which would be placed with families in mahallas across the country's regions.
The chamber highlighted that Holstein cows are known for their high productivity, producing over 40 liters of milk per day. This is part of a broader plan to localize dairy and confectionery production in Uzbekistan.
The meeting also touched on the possibility of supplying 500,000 tonnes of wheat to Uzbekistan via the Caspian Sea, following Russia's high wheat harvest this year. The parties considered establishing logistics routes through the ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala.
