Venture Global in talks to expand US LNG sales to China
Venture Global Inc., a major US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, is exploring new deals to supply fuel to more Chinese buyers. The talks come as the Iran war disrupts global LNG shipments, pushing China to diversify its supply sources.
The company is in early-stage discussions with at least three Chinese LNG importers, including PetroChina Co. The potential contracts aim to deliver fuel from Venture Global’s export facilities in Louisiana. For PetroChina, the proposed supply would exceed 1 million tons annually.
The discussions remain confidential, and the people familiar with the matter declined to be identified. The move highlights China’s efforts to secure alternative LNG supplies amid geopolitical tensions.
