Nguyen Canh Tan, a farmer from Quynh Luu district in Vietnam, transformed his family's farm into a highly successful and profitable business. After serving in the military, Tan returned to his hometown and struggled with poverty. He saw an opportunity to develop forest-based economic activities and started by planting acacia trees for raw materials on 10.7 hectares of leased land. Initially, he had limited capital and experience, but he persevered and expanded his farm over time.

Tan's family started raising chickens and ducks in a small area, earning a net profit of 75 million VND in the first year. With support from the Farmers' Association of the commune, they were able to take out loans and expand their operations. Tan applied knowledge learned from veterinary training courses and independently researched information on social media to improve his livestock's productivity.

By 2016, Tan's family had built six poultry farming areas with a total area of 1,200 square meters, raising an average of 27,000 chickens and producing 54 tons of poultry meat for sale. Their farm now has over 34,000 chickens, yielding 65 tons of chicken meat per year.

Tan's family also grows grass and corn and raises six buffaloes and cows. With a total investment of 1.5 billion VND, they earn a net profit of 500 million VND per year. Tan has created jobs for 4 permanent workers and 425 seasonal workers. He has expanded his farm to an area of 1,700 square meters and plans to invest in a modern automated conveyor belt to increase the total herd size.
