The gold market has seen a rebound in prices, but investors who bought at the peak in late January are still facing significant losses. On January 29, 2026, SJC gold bar prices reached their highest point of the year, with DOJI and Phu Quy listing them at 187.3-190.3 million VND/tael (buying-selling). Meanwhile, Bao Tin Minh Chau listed SJC gold bars at 187.2-190.2 million VND/tael, with a difference of 3 million VND/tael between buying and selling prices.

The price of 9999 gold rings also increased to a high level, with selling prices ranging from 189.8-190.3 million VND/tael at DOJI, Bao Tin Minh Chau, and Phu Quy. However, the current price is significantly lower than the peak in late January.

For investors who bought SJC gold bars at the selling price on January 29 and resold at the buying price on August 24, losses are substantial. At DOJI and Phu Quy, they lost about 43.3 million VND/tael, while at Bao Tin Minh Chau, the loss was around 42.7 million VND/tael.

The situation is similar for buyers of 9999 gold rings, with losses ranging from 42-43.3 million VND/tael depending on the location and time of purchase. World gold prices have also not returned to their peak in January, down 879.1 USD/ounce compared to the end of January.

Investors need to carefully assess market developments and avoid chasing buying psychology when prices increase sharply. Appropriate capital allocation is crucial to financial capacity and holding targets.
