Vietnam's Gold Prices Plunge by Over 30 Million VND/Tael in Six Months
Gold prices in Vietnam have decreased sharply over the past six months, affecting buyers who purchased gold at higher prices. According to Laodong.vn, the price of SJC gold bars has dropped by more than 30 million VND/tael since August 27, 2026. On that date, the buying and selling prices were listed at 147-150 million VND/tael.
Compared to February 27, 2026, when the buying price was 181 million VND/tael and the selling price was 184 million VND/tael, the current prices have decreased by 34 million VND/tael. This decline translates to a potential loss of around 37 million VND/tael for buyers who purchased gold six months ago.
The same trend is observed in the market price of 9999 gold rings, which has also recorded a sharp decrease. At DOJI, the buying and selling prices have dropped by 32-31 million VND/tael, respectively. This represents a potential loss of about 35 million VND/tael for buyers who purchased these items six months ago.
The decline in gold prices is partly attributed to the downward trend of the international market. On August 27, 2026, world gold prices were at $4,640.8 per ounce, down $552.4 from $5,193.2 on February 27, 2026.
