Virginia Gas Prices Drop Slightly After Record-Setting September
Gas prices in Virginia, including Lynchburg, have seen a slight decrease over the past week. AAA reports that the statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is now $4.12, down 10 cents from the previous week. In Lynchburg, the average price is $4.13, a 7-cent drop.
The decline in gas prices mirrors a national trend, with the nationwide average falling nearly 7 cents to $4.41. This follows a record-setting September for gas prices. AAA attributes the drop to a dip in crude oil prices, which have fallen back into the $90 per barrel range.
Despite the recent decrease, AAA notes that overall gas prices remain the highest they’ve ever been for this time of year. The drop provides some relief for drivers, but prices are still significantly higher than in previous years.
