Virginia Gas Prices Soar Above $4.20 Amid Crude Oil Price Hike
Gas prices in Virginia are hovering above $4.20 per gallon on average, according to AAA. This comes as the price of crude oil continues to rise, with West Texas Intermediate and Brent Crude Oil increasing by more than $2.50 on Monday.
Brent Crude is now trading at $107 per barrel, a whopping $13 higher than WTI. The Strait of Hormuz situation remains uncertain, which could lead to further volatility in the oil market.
Drivers in Hampton Roads can expect to pay an average of $4.22 per gallon for gas, although prices vary by locality. Travel experts are advising drivers to be prepared for any potential price increases due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Ryan Adcock with AAA notes that 'it's hard to say one way or another' how long these high prices will last, but suggests that smart driving habits can help save on gas costs. Adcock recommends avoiding hard acceleration and braking, as well as maintaining a speed of 55 miles per hour on the highway.
