Walmart Shrinks Corn Chip Bags Amid Growing Shrinkflation Concerns
A Walmart shopper has called out the retailer for shrinking its Great Value corn chips bags without adjusting the price. The bag now contains 9.25 ounces of product, down from 10 ounces in the previous version.
According to TikTok user Meghan E, who first pointed out the change, the new packaging design is essentially a rebranding effort that comes with fewer chips at the same price.
The original corn chip bag weighed 10 ounces and cost $1.84, while the new one weighs 9.25 ounces but still costs the same amount.
Shrinkflation has become a growing concern among shoppers, who are noticing similar reductions in product sizes across various food categories. Some have even started to adjust their recipes to account for the changes.
