War in Iran Sends Energy Prices Soaring for American Families
Washington D.C. - Six months into the Iran war, American families are shouldering the financial burden of higher energy prices.
The national average price of regular gasoline has reached $4.10 a gallon, with prices likely to remain volatile until the war ends and damage is repaired to refinery and delivery systems.
For a representative household using 500 gallons of gasoline over six months, the estimated additional cost is approximately $543.
The pressure may not end at the gas pump, as millions of households will have to pay for home heating oil this winter. With retail diesel now at $5.45 a gallon, residential heating-oil prices could soar to around $5.55 a gallon.
