As Independence Day weekend approaches, gas prices are providing some relief to drivers. According to Triple A, the national average price of gasoline has declined for the fifth consecutive week, reaching $3.918 per gallon. This is down from last week's average of $3.999 and $4.507 just a month ago.

In Wayne County, residents are paying the lowest gas prices in the immediate area with an average of $3.42 per gallon. The state of Kentucky has an average price of $3.46, while other surrounding counties have slightly higher averages ranging from $3.47 to $3.59.

Crude oil prices have also continued to fall as the U.S. and Iran work towards a long-term deal. Despite lower prices, demand could rise as a record number of Americans prepare to travel for Independence Day weekend, with 85% planning to drive to their destinations.
