Wheat Futures Rise Amid Ongoing Port Disruptions
Grain futures markets kicked off the new week with mixed results on Monday. According to DTN's Quick Takes, December corn prices are down 0.5 cents, while November soybeans are down 0.75 cents. However, September wheat futures in Kansas City and Chicago are seeing gains of 3 cents and 1.25 cents, respectively.
The US dollar index is up 0.08%, with December gold prices dropping $2.10. Crude oil prices have also increased by $0.49 per barrel. The uptick in energy markets has provided support for wheat futures, which have been volatile lately due to ongoing port disruptions in the Black Sea.
This week's trade will focus on Wednesday's release of the August WASDE report, which includes yield forecasts for the upcoming US corn and soybean crops. These projections are highly anticipated by market participants.
