West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices rose to near $88.30 in early European trading hours on Wednesday, following US President Donald Trump's denial of easing sanctions on Iran.

Trump denied reports that he had agreed to provide Iran with sanctions relief and release frozen funds in return for concrete steps on its nuclear program.

The denial comes as Qatar's efforts to mediate between the US and Iran have failed to yield a breakthrough, raising concerns about renewed tensions in the region.

Crude oil inventories rose by 1.019 million barrels in the week ended September 25, according to API data.
