Year-Round E-15 Sales Gain Momentum as Farm Bill Stalls in Senate

The proposed Farm Bill has stalled in the US Senate due to disagreements over SNAP funding requirements. Despite this setback, proponents of year-round E-15 gasoline sales remain optimistic about its passage.

E-15 is a blend of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline, which is more than the standard 10% ethanol found at most pumps. Sen. Jerry Moran has expressed support for year-round E-15 sales, stating that it would provide consumers with more choices at the pump and strengthen markets for farmers and ethanol producers.

Brett Grauerholz, VP of the Kansas Corn Growers Association, believes that making E-15 sales permanent is a matter of time. He notes that the US is lagging behind other countries in adopting cleaner fuels like E-30, which has been mandated in some nations due to its lower emissions.

Grauerholz also points out that the US has an abundance of corn, with production per acre reaching record levels and exports on corn at all-time highs. However, he notes that current E-15 sales rely heavily on EPA exemptions and vary by state.
