Year-Round E15 Sales Bill Advances Amid Record Ethanol Exports

The US ethanol market is experiencing growth due to expanding E15 sales and strong export demand. The Senate Agriculture Committee has voted to advance the Agriculture Act of 2026, which includes provisions allowing year-round sales of E15. This move was applauded by major farm and biofuel organisations, who see it as a way to provide farmers with a reliable market for corn and lower fuel costs for consumers.

The USDA released a bullish outlook on ethanol exports, building on the record 2.2 billion gallons shipped in 2025. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has also increased its forecast for 2027 fuel ethanol production to 1.12 million barrels per day, up from 1.11 million last month.

Iowa E15 sales reached their second-highest level on record in August, with over 46 million gallons distributed. The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association projects that E15 will surpass E10 as the top-selling fuel in Iowa next year.
