Yemen Conflict Escalates as Saudi Arabia Launches Strikes on Sanaa
The conflict in Yemen escalated on Saturday as Houthi forces accused Saudi Arabia of launching dozens of strikes on Sanaa, the capital city. The attacks come after the Houthis seized control of the Bab al-Mandab strait and several coastal regions along the Red Sea.
According to Al-Masirah TV, a Houthi-affiliated channel, 'Saudi enemy aircraft' hit Sanaa with 26 strikes. Two correspondents in Sanaa reported hearing loud explosions and seeing warplanes firing missiles on the city.
In neighboring Saudi Arabia, an AFP journalist saw flames and smoke rising from an oil facility belonging to state-owned Aramco south of Riyadh. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but the Houthis have claimed several attacks on facilities belonging to Aramco in recent months.
