Yemen Conflict Intensifies as Houthis, Saudi Arabia Trade Heavy Bombings
The conflict in Yemen has intensified significantly in recent hours as the Houthis and Saudi Arabia exchange intense bombings, affecting both Yemeni and Saudi territories. The Saudi air force and Houthi forces have been engaging in a fierce battle, with reports of over 60 air and missile attacks by Saudi Arabia in the last 24 hours. The Houthi-controlled Ministry of Health has reported that at least 72 civilians have been killed and 125 injured since the escalation began on September 3.
The fighting has reached close to the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, with some projectiles hitting the Presidential Palace, which is under Houthi control. The Houthis claim to have launched a ballistic missile and drone attack against the Saudi oil company Aramco in Riyadh, resulting in fires at the attacked locations.
The internationally recognized Yemeni government has acknowledged carrying out an attack on legitimate military targets in Sana'a with Saudi support but has not provided further information. The Houthi forces have been making significant territorial gains since launching their offensive on September 3, capturing key areas including Mocha and regions near the Bab el Mandeb strait.
