The latest Commitments of Traders report from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) reveals a complex market landscape for major futures and options markets as of September 22.

The report shows that the Japanese yen remains one of the few currencies with net long positions, at 71,982 contracts, while the euro, British pound, and Swiss franc continue to see net short positioning.

In contrast to precious metals, copper and silver saw increased inflows. Long positions in gold cooled off by 5,727 contracts to 131,334, but speculative enthusiasm for gold remains.

The energy market exhibits divergent shifts: crude oil attracted additional long positioning, while natural gas exhibited a marked weakening of short positions.
