Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Thursday that his government will provide assistance to farmers affected by Russian attacks on shipping and port facilities.

The measures, which include subsidized credits and other financing support, are set to begin implementation in the coming days.

Zelenskiy emphasized that the aid is aimed at those 'who are now in a difficult situation because of Russian strikes on our ports and the maritime corridor.'

The assistance comes as Ukraine's agricultural industry continues to grapple with disruptions caused by Russian attacks, which have damaged ships and disrupted grain exports.

According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Russian attacks in 2022 led to steep increases in the global food price index, causing 'acute food insecurity for millions of families.'
