Zelenskyy Hints at Ukraine-Russia Energy Ceasefire Amid War Fears
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed readiness for an energy ceasefire with Russia, but notes that he is not sure if Moscow is equally prepared. Speaking after separate talks with US and UK leaders in New York City, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of ending the war as a top priority.
He clarified that Ukraine is willing to agree to an energy truce on condition that Russia does not attack its critical infrastructure, including energy, electricity, heating, and water supplies. This comes amidst concerns over a potential new massive Russian attack against his country.
The market reacted positively to the development, with WTI crude oil prices rising 2.25% to $91.50 per barrel at the time of writing.
