$24 Million Outflow Doesn't Signal End of Ethereum ETF Inflation
Ethereum ETFs experienced their second outflow session in late August and early September, recording $24.29 million on September 8. This comes after two straight weeks of record-breaking inflows that brought in a total of over $1 billion.
The funds' $824.41 million net inflow during the week of August 24 to 28 was their largest five-day total since trading began, with each day adding to a cumulative weekly total. However, Ethereum's price remained steady near $2,482 on the day of the outflow and has since climbed back above $2,510.
The $24 million outflow is primarily attributed to Grayscale's two Ethereum funds, which accounted for nearly all of Wednesday's outflow. The newer Ethereum Mini Trust lost a further $24.61 million, while Fidelity's FETH added $9.89 million, offsetting part of what Grayscale's funds lost.
Experts argue that one negative session concentrated almost entirely in Grayscale's funds is not enough to call a trend reversal, especially with BlackRock's ETHA, the largest Ethereum ETF by assets at $8.76 billion, sitting untouched.
