A group of young men, led by Malone Lam, 22, orchestrated one of the biggest cryptocurrency thefts in US history, stealing over $240 million in Bitcoin. The heist occurred in August 2024, and the scammers went on an extravagant spending spree, buying sports cars, private jets, and renting mansions.

The victim, identified as 'Victim 7' in court filings, was duped by the scammers who posed as Google and Gemini representatives, gaining access to his Google Drive and revealing security codes that allowed them to funnel over 4,100 Bitcoin. Prosecutors said Lam and his friends targeted the man because of his wealth and long history with cryptocurrency.

The scammers laundered the money through various exchange platforms, converting the virtual currency into government-issued funds. However, Serrano didn't hide his IP address when creating an account on a cryptocurrency exchange to hold almost $30 million in stolen crypto.

Jeandiel Serrano was vacationing in the Maldives when investigators identified him as a suspect, while Lam spent large amounts of money at clubs and threw bags worth tens of thousands of dollars to women. Chetal gifted his parents a Lamborghini and hid $500,000 in cash in their laundry machine.
