A San Francisco State University (SF State) alumnus and his wife have donated $25 million in XRP to their alma mater, making it one of the largest cryptocurrency contributions to a US university at the time.

The donation, made by Chris Larsen and Lyna Lam through the Rippleworks Foundation in April 2019, was used to establish funds for the university's College of Business and support new initiatives focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and financial technology.

The XRP contribution marked the institution's first digital asset donation. The funds were directed towards business education and innovation programs, with a portion establishing the Lam-Larsen Fund for Global Innovation.
