The process of minting USDC involves institutions depositing dollars into a Circle reserve account, which are then verified and new USDC tokens are created on-chain in an equivalent amount.

Circle holds reserves predominantly in short-duration US Treasuries and cash equivalents, with total reserves currently sitting at around $74 billion, comfortably covering the circulating supply of over $73 billion.
