$560k Seized from Hamas-Linked Crypto Funds Amid Widespread Hacking Attacks
The US Department of Justice seized more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency intended for Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization. The funds were allegedly meant to support the Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing.
Investigators traced and seized the funds through three warrants issued during 2025, federal prosecutors said. The money was also linked to websites and communication systems allegedly used for fundraising and recruitment by the group.
The FBI gathered information about thousands of people who contacted Hamas online about making donations, which authorities plan to use in future investigations aimed at preventing terrorism financing.
In other crypto news, attackers compromised at least 31 organizations in a ClickFix campaign that uses the Polygon blockchain. The campaign exploits EtherHiding, a technique that stores changing server information on a blockchain, allowing attackers to quickly direct infected computers to new control servers when defenders block existing ones.
