600 BTC Moves After 16 Years, Reigniting Satoshi Nakamoto Speculation
A significant movement of Bitcoin (BTC) coins has been detected on the blockchain after over 16 years of dormancy. Twelve long-dormant addresses holding a combined 600 BTC, worth approximately $48 million, moved their coins on Saturday. According to Whale Alert, the 600 BTC came from rewards mined across 12 Bitcoin blocks in March 2010.
Whale Alert's research found no connection between these blocks and Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. The mining blocks and addresses were traced by Whale Alert, which determined that none of them can be connected to Nakamoto based on their analysis. In fact, one address received a 50 BTC mining reward on March 5, 2010, and moved the coins to a new address on September 5, 2026.
The movement has reignited speculation about a possible link to Satoshi Nakamoto, although Whale Alert's research suggests no such connection. The fact that these coins date back to a period when Nakamoto was still actively involved with Bitcoin development and communications adds to the intrigue.
