The funds came from Ben Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, and Christopher Harborne, another prominent crypto investor. Delo's donation was initially reported to be £36 million, but Harborne promptly matched it, bringing the total to a staggering £72 million.

The Liberal Democrats have called for Prime Minister Andy Burnham to cap donations and protect democracy from 'buying power.'
