Aave Blasts Through $175 as Demand for DeFi Tokens Continues
Aave's price surged 17% on September 29 to reach $175, marking its highest level since September and exceeding its previous highs. Despite US Treasury yields rising above 5%, Aave's rally continues, driven by demand for new tokens in the DeFi space.
The asset had already been gaining momentum before its latest jump, having traded under $90 in mid-August but crossing the $120, $140, and then $150 price levels. With its chart showing strength both recently and over a longer period, Aave may now approach the $180 price level.
The rise of Aave's price comes during a challenging time for lending platforms, as investors consider competing returns from government bonds at lower risk. An Aave risk proposal was presented on September 28, recommending adjustments to borrowing conditions, including increasing the borrowing rate for USDe from 6.3% to 6.6%. However, this proposal did not appear to be directly related to the price surge.
