Aave Eyes US$ 50 Million Institutional Loan to Fuel BTC and ETH Lending

Aave is exploring a US$ 50 million institutional loan for its BTC- and ETH-collateralized lending platform. The proposed structure involves two funding fronts, with up to US$ 25 million in GHO and an additional US$ 25 million in USDC or USDT.

The loan would be secured by leaving the borrowed asset (BTC or ETH) with a qualified custodian, while Aave's own assets would be used as collateral to raise funds. This separation creates two distinct collateral chains, reducing the risk of default.

However, this setup also means that a broad drop in the crypto market could pressure both the client's collateral and Aave's collateral. Additionally, Aave V3's documentation requires maintaining sufficient collateral and monitoring the health factor to avoid loan defaults.
