Acurast Activates 225K Smartphone Network on Base for Confidential On-Chain AI

Acurast has activated its smartphone-powered compute network on Base, integrating 225,000 devices to provide confidential AI inference and decentralized workloads directly into the on-chain ecosystem. Jesse Pollak, creator of Base, stated that this integration expands the surface area for developers to run secure, verifiable, and autonomous AI applications on-chain.

The Acurast network is built on a globally distributed compute layer spanning more than 140 countries, with over 1 million daily on-chain transactions and over 640 million transactions processed to date. This scale enables high-security and AI-driven applications to run seamlessly across the community-powered network.

Alessandro De Carli, founder of Acurast, emphasized that AI agents cannot rely solely on centralized servers if they are tasked with managing real assets on-chain. By utilizing smartphone-based TEEs, Acurast enables confidential AI that is verifiable, decentralized, and owned by the users who power it.

Through its integration with Base, Acurast allows users to smoothly onboard and manage devices via the Acurast Hub using a Base wallet. The company has raised $11 million from leading venture capital firms and key industry figures, including Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum and Polkadot.
