Affluent Investors' Crypto Ownership Masks Wider Integration Gap
A recent report by Nexo has revealed that two-thirds of affluent investors own cryptocurrency, but only a small fraction have truly integrated it into their financial lives.
The 'Future of Digital Wealth 2026' report surveyed 1,000 wealthy individuals across the US, UK, and Argentina between February and March. The survey found that 67% of respondents hold crypto assets, but the average Crypto Integration Index score was only 4.83 out of 10.
The report's authors used a Crypto Integration Index to measure how deeply crypto is woven into someone's financial life. This index takes into account factors such as allocation size, holding duration, and retirement planning. Only 4.7% of participants scored 7 or higher, indicating that they have structurally integrated crypto into their financial lives.
The report also found that risk perception accounts for only a small portion of the variation in Crypto Integration Index scores. Instead, practical factors such as asset substitution and retirement planning explain 54.2% of the variation in integration scores.
