AI Earnings Spark Asian Stock Rebound to $1 Trillion
A recent surge in artificial intelligence (AI) stocks has sparked a massive rebound in Asian markets, adding nearly $1 trillion to their value in a single session.
The turnaround came after blockbuster earnings reports from Microsoft and Amazon, which eased concerns about AI infrastructure spending. The semiconductor sector led the rally, with companies like SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics experiencing significant gains.
The KOSPI, South Korea's stock market index, jumped 17.9% to its highest single-day gain on record. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged, and unemployment remained steady at 2.5%, supporting market sentiment.
Despite the impressive recovery, July was a challenging month for Asian stocks, with the KOSPI ending down 22.19% and remaining nearly 30% below its June peak. Market analyst Bull Theory compared the recent correction to previous major crashes, including the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.
The AI boom's impact on cryptocurrency markets is also being closely watched, with Bitcoin (BTC) trading near $63,779 and Ethereum (ETH) around $1,888. If confidence in AI and technology continues to improve, crypto markets may benefit as institutional investors rotate back into higher-risk assets.
